Overcoming the Challenges of Data Aggregation

Mon. August 13| 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM | Meeting Room 4 Upper Level

Data Acquisition. Data Aggregation. These two word phrases sound like four letter words. Getting all your data in a single place should not be that hard, but it is. We routinely hear from travel buyers that they have all their data together, expect expense… or ground transportation… or event information. Or a million other pieces. We routinely hear "this should be so easy" and we have to explain why it isn't as easy as they think. In this session we will explore how a history of non-standard connectivity to all of the different platforms in the travel ecosystem has invoked a level of complexity around commerce that isn't necessary. And, how this unnecessary complexity leads to unwillingness to accept change across the industry.

We will provide best practices to travel buyers to help them ensure their data is being effectively created, from the time of policy approval and booking through the expense management process. Data acquisitions starts with data quality at the moment the very idea of a trip starts. We will discuss the questions they should be asking their suppliers and third-party providers about their data.

We hear many travel industry veterans ask questions on proposals because they're new buzz words without really understanding what those questions mean and what the answers imply. We will provide travel buyers with a step-by-step guide to managing their data throughout the data lifecycle so that they can leave the session with real-world practical advice.
