Code Red: Active Shooter Scenarios and a Case Study on the Las Vegas Shooting

Mon. August 13| 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM | Meeting Room 6A Upper Level

It's October 1st 2017 and you're a business traveler staying in the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas. You're in town from London, excited for the business meeting you have the next day and enjoying the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas. Just after 10pm you start to hear loud commotion. Startled, you look out your hotel room door and see SWAT teams rushing through the hallway of your hotel. Terrified, you slam the door closed, use every available lock, and wait. What do you do next?

Exploring the different points of view – from the traveler to the travel manager and the organizational executive and even one of your employees on leisure travel - this interactive session will educate you on best practices in managing a crisis by looking through different aspects of the 2017 Las Vegas shooting. You'll learn what obligations leisure travelers who are on the ground have in the situation as well as the obligation from the company. You'll even learn how to mitigate concerns about after effects from a traveler who is going to that location shortly thereafter.
